About Texas Pain Society

Mission

The purpose of Texas Pain Society is to advance the art and science of pain medicine

  1. by promoting and maintaining the highest standards of professional practice through education and research in chronic pain,

  2. by aiding and encouraging the education of medical students, residents, fellows and practicing physicians in pain management and

  3. by obtaining and publishing scientific information in pain medicine and management.

History

Texas Pain Society was established in 1989 in Houston, Texas. 

The membership of over 250 pain practitioners are involved in acute and chronic pain management of patients in Texas. 

Texas Pain Society represents the practice of pain medicine in Texas with a seat on the Texas Medical Association’s House of Delegates. 

Our mission is to improve the quality of life of Texans who suffer from pain.

Affiliations

The Texas Pain Society (TPS) enjoys a close alliance with the Texas Medical Association, American  Pain Society, the American Academy of Pain Medicine, the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians and the Texas Cancer Pain Initiative.

The TPS is also an active co-sponsor of Pain Practice (a quarterly scientific journal dealing with the multidisciplinary aspects of pain) and the Texas  Tech University Health Sciences Center Annual Pain Symposium.
