What Is The Texas Pain Society, And Why Should You Join?

What Is The Texas Pain SocietyThe Texas Pain Society (TPS) was established in 1989, in Houston, Texas. The members—over 300 pain practitioners—are involved in acute and chronic pain management of patients in Texas.

The organization is dedicated to advancing comprehensive, multidisciplinary, patient-centered pain care across the state, representing and supporting the interests of patients, physicians, and healthcare professionals by promoting excellence in education, advocacy, and research.

TPS envisions a future where every Texan has access to compassionate, effective, and evidence-based pain care that enhances quality of life and functionality.

To achieve this, the society:

  • promotes and maintains the highest standards in the practice of pain medicine through continuing education and clinical research

  • encourages education and collaboration among trainees and practitioners across all disciplines involved in pain care

  • advocates for policies and regulations that ensure patient access to comprehensive pain treatment and fair third-party reimbursement

  • supports a multidisciplinary approach to pain management, recognizing the diverse and complex needs of those living with pain

A TPS membership helps support and grow the pain industry in Texas. Our board of directors, committees, and local chapters meet and network regularly. Annual awards recognize outstanding work in the field. Our website is full of resources like a career center and this blog. Regular events provide educational opportunities.
