Texas Pain Society Emeritus Board Member, C.M. Schade, MD, PhD, PE Elected Presiding Officer of the Prescription Monitoring Program Advisory Committee. January 15, 2020 Tuesday, January 14, 2020 the Prescription Monitoring Program Advisory Committee met in Austin, Texas. During this first meeting, Texas Pain Society Past President and Emeritus Board Member, C.M. Schade, MD, PhD, PE was elected as presiding officer. This committee was formed during the 86th Legislative Session, House Bill 3284, which created an advisory committee to advise the Texas State Board of Pharmacy on the Prescription Monitoring Program. The committee is charged with making recommendations about operational improvements to the electronic system that stores the information, including implementing best practices and improvements that address system weaknesses and workflow challenges; resolutions to identified data concerns; methods to improve data accuracy, integrity, and security and to reduce technical difficulties; and the addition of any new data set or service to the information submitted to the board or the access to that information.
