BROCHURE

Goal:

Although chronic opioid therapy is integral to effective pain management, its aberrant use has emerged as one of the most serious health issues facing our society today. There is a challenge among the medical community in keeping the complex balance between safeguarding legitimate access to opioids in patients with chronic and protecting patients and the general public from the risks associated with their inappropriate use. Federal and state regulations continue to change in order to address the current opioid epidemic. Up-to-date information on opioid use among all stakeholders is needed in order to maximize its use while reducing complications in routine clinical practice.

This one day seminar will offer essential knowledge and information regarding opioid
utilization and its associated clinical, public health, and legal ramifications as well as provide practical solutions to address such issues and improve patient outcomes. The ultimate goal is to ensure patient safety and increase provider awareness and knowledge regarding the use of opioids.

• Cancer pain, Chemical Coping, and Substance Use Disorder: The Clinical and Ethical Dilemma
• The Global Opioid Crisis: Impact of State, Federal and Global Initiatives
• Safe Opioid Prescribing: What do the Guidelines Say?
• Approach to Patients with Aberrant Opioid Related Behavior
• Abuse Deterrent Opioid Formulations: An Evolving Debate
